Celebrate Women S History Month With These Comics And Graphic Novels
But is it? Sure, we love Wonder Woman, and even until this day, she still remains the perfect recipe for a hero. However, as time has shown us, there’s no one way to be the perfect hero — especially if you aren’t a man. Over the years, women have entered the comic book and publishing industry as writers and artists. They’ve used their positions to bring realistic nuisances to characters that cis hetero men can not do, and it has made comics better....

The new trailer promises to live up to the epic fantasy descriptor, with end-of-the-world stakes, a huge and beautiful world to explore, and an ensemble cast, including a young Galadriel and Elrond. Galadriel has seen an apocalyptic vision of death and destruction set to shatter the peace currently reigning over Middle-earth, and she is unconvinced by Elrond’s attempts to reassure her. As usual, though, there is also a group of hobbits, the Harfoots, that seem poised to take center stage....

Dear Pixar We Deserve Better
I love you. I will ever be forever grateful that you have existed and persisted, despite overwhelming odds like CEOs who didn’t believe in the power of animation. You’ve told stories that challenge animation’s boundaries and potential, allowing women and unconventional underdogs to take the stage, while doing research and showing respect. The comic adaptations show as much care and love. Thus, as you can imagine, the news that Pixar founder John Lasseter has taken a six month leave due to harassing women has been a shock to me....

Feminist Crime Comics For Fans Of My Favorite Murder
As my reading habits have been well-informed by my early indoctrination into the true crime lifestyle, I decided to put together a list of crime comics that I thought would make Karen and Georgia proud. Though not all of the books below deal with actual murder and there are some stellar nonfiction crime comics out there, I think the fictional takes here will hit just the right crime-and-feminism spot for an My Favorite Murder listener....
First Appearance Flashback She Hulk
Fan favorite Marvel heroine She-Hulk, AKA Jennifer Walters, is set to make her live action debut this August in the Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, where she’ll be played by Tatiana Maslany. It’s a bit funny that it’s taken her 44 years to appear in live action, since the comics character was actually originally created because of television. Back in 1980, Marvel was concerned that the success of The Bionic Woman, a spinoff of The Six Million Dollar Man, might inspire the writers of then-running Incredible Hulk TV show to introduce a female version of their hero....
